112 Squadron (Swift In Destruction). One of twelve 112 Sqdri. Kittyhawk aircraft engaged in bombing and strafing of enemy transport on roads between Carlentini and Lentini, Sicily. Small arms and anti-aircraft fire was encountered and fire was seen on the underside of Warrant Officer Vance's aircraft. Kittyhawk FR 502 went down from 700 feet and crashed three miles south-west of Lentini, no parachute was seen.
