42 Squadron (Fortiter In Re). The crew of Beaufort aircraft L 4514 were on an anti- shipping strike when they crashed at Tengwall, Shetland Islands. Two RAF crew members, Sergeants Branchflower and Woolsew were also killed, One RAF crew member, Sergeant Bond, was seriously injured.
