1918-09-28 Stata died returning from a bombing raid when a severe storm was encountered at Wulveringhem. The aircraft spun and lost a wing in the storm and crashed, killing Stata and his gunner Lt. C.V.R. Browne (British). Memorial at Williams Union Cemetery, Williamsburg, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry United Counties, Ontario, Canada
