126 Squadron (Foremost In Attack). Pilot Officer Smith lost his life when he had to bail out over the sea after his Spitfire aircraft was damaged during operations. He was wingman for his brother Flying Officer Rod Smith who shot down 13 and 1/2 enemy aircraft. Jerrold shot down 3 enemy aircraft.
