1918-08-19: Sherlock was in the 2nd seat, his aircraft being flown by student pilot and British Fight Cadet Snowdon Appleton Scott, when it was involved in a mid-air collision with DH.6, B-2783 flown by an unknown pilot from 58TDS. Both Sherlock and his student were killed in the crash.
