202 Squadron (Semper Vigilate). The crew of a Catalina aircraft were returning from an anti-sub patrol when their aircraft crashed and sank in Gibraltar Bay and the depth charges exploded. Flying Officer C.A. Rimmington (RAAF), Sergeants E.F. Chaplin (RAF), J.S. Hay (RAF), C.J.B. Orr (RAF), H. Wallis (RAF), and FS J.M. Corcoran (RAF) were also killed. One RAF member of the crew was seriously injured.
