Muir, of Niagara Falls, joined 29 Squadron in France on 1917-03-22. He was killed in action two weeks later, having failed to return from a 'special' mission' which involved his reconnaissance work over the future Vimy battlefield and interdiction flights against enemy scout and observation aircraft.
