It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. 149 East India Squadron (Fortis Nocte). Stirling aircraft LJ 501 missing during a mine-laying operation off the Belgian Coast in the vicinity of Knocke. Six of the crew, not Canadians missing, believed killed. Addendum: . Five RAF members of the crew, Sgt.s F.C. Pallett, F. Cartwright, J. Dickinson, E.R. Searles, and FS. J. Hodgins were also killed.
