9 Squadron (Per Noctem Volamus). Flying Officer MacRae was killed when his Wellington Ia aircraft N 3017 went down. On December 13, 1939 he had been on a raid to Heligoland Island with Squadron Leader A.J. Guthrie when nearly all the Squadron was shot down. Flying Officer MacRae made a crash landing in England after being badly shot up during the attack.
