198 Squadron (Igini Renatus). A flight of Typhoon aircraft were on a Ranger operation and crossed the coast at 5,000 feet making a gentle dive to get clear of the cloud. At 1,000 feet the Flight Leader gave r/t instructions to gain height and return to base. Flying Officer MacDonald was flying aircraft JR 242 and was not seen again.
