233 Squadron (Yrnlaen). Dakota aircraft KG 356 crashed east of Caen, France at Bassenville during a night troop-carrying operation. Pilot Officer Jones maintained control of his aircraft long enough for his crew to jump to safety; he went down with the aircraft.
