229 Squadron (Be Bold). Spitfire aircraft ft MH852 took off on a night flare-dropping patrol and was diverted to attack a German V1 flying bomb. F/L. Idema was killed while attacking the V1. Flight Lieutenant Pilot Idema is buried in the Ste. Croix Communal Cemetery, Bernay, Eure, France.
