218 Gold Coast Squadron (In Time). Stirling aircraft BF 501 crashed at Scherpenhewel, Belgium during operations over Elberfeld, Germany. Seven RAF members of the crew, Sergeants P.E. Collingwood, R.L. Edgoose, A.W. Erne, T.E. Lloyd, J. Thomson, FSs L. De Bottle, and R.F. Garrod were also killed. There were two pilots on board for this operation.
