218 Gold Coast Squadron (In Time). Stirling aircraft BF 472 missing during night operations against Hanover, Germany. Five RAF members of the crew were also killed. One other crew member, not Canadian, missing believed killed. There were two 218 Sqdn. aircraft lost in the same area on this date. Please see FS B.D. Winders for information regarding the other aircraft and crew. Sergeants W.R. Bray (RAF), H. Exley (RAF), S.J. Harris (RAF), A.S. Haxton (RAF), J. McGovern (RAF), E. Otter (RAF), N. Whitehead (RAF), F/Os G.G. Hurst D.F.C. (RAF), W.F.C. Knight D.F.C. (RAF), S.J.H. Verney (RAF), and Pilot Officer G.A. Lawrenson (RAF) were also killed.
