99 and 311 Squadrons. G/C. Griffiths was the first Canadian to win the DFC in W.W. II. He won the medal during a raid to Heligoland on Dec 14/39. He also earned the Czechoslovakian Military Cross and was killed when he was hit by a truck. He had been the Group Captain of the Desert Air Force 1942 - 1944.
