Gillespie came to Canada in the 1900s, and enlisted in the RFC as a Canadian. 1918-08-07: Gillespie died in RE-8, C-2464, when it stalled at 500 feet, spun to earth and burst into flames during target practice at the aerodrome. His pilot Lt Mathew Adam (British) was also killed in the crash. FAG lists DOB as 1886-11-02
