40 Squadron (Hostem A Coelo Expellere). Wellington aircraft X 3220 was returning from operations over Hamburg, Germany when the pilot was blinded by the glare of a searchlight. The aircraft went out of control at four hundred feet and crashed two miles north-east of Great Yarmouth, West Caister, England. Five RAF members of the crew, Squadron Leader R.G. Weighin, Sergeants R.D. Hesketh, D.A. Price, V.H. Lang, and Pilot Officer A.W. Wilson were also killed. Wellington aircraft X 3220 was found and dug up by the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum forty years later.
