1918-02-18: Gerow died on this date near Andover Aerodrome, in England, at the S.F.S. Depot. The incident occurred during a routine training mission, when the DH-4 he was piloting went into a flat turn, resulting in a spin from which he did not recover. The airplane crashed from about 150 feet in the air, and he was killed.
