1917-04-05: Elsley was missing in FE2b, A-805; seen going down apparently under control between Inchy and Pronville followed by a hostile aircraft while on escort to a photography mission. His air-gunner, 2Lt Frederick Higginbottom, (British) was also missing. Both were accepted as dead as they were not made POWs.
