218 Gold Coast Squadron (In Time). Stirling aircraft was shot down at Schleswig, Germany. There were two 218 Sqdn. aircraft lost in this same area on this date, one RAAF and ten RAF airmen, FSs J. Farrimond, L. Hartley, Sergeants R.T. Higgins, F.J. James, N. Podmore, J.A. Sharpe, C. Smith, G.E.S. Wren, P/Os I.C. Newell, and G.L. Tudor were also killed.
