Took off from Martlesham Heath on a convoy patrol when he was attacked and shot down by German FW-190 fighter aircraft. He was missing, presumed killed when his Spitfire Vb aircraft BL-713 crashed in the sea six miles due east of Oxfordness, England. Pilot Officer Carr has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial.
