185 Squadron (Ara Fein Hu). FS. Carmody was killed when his Spitfire aircraft EP 473 crashed twenty miles north of St PauIs Bay, Malta. Suspected engine failure and a failed attempt at landing in the sea. FS. Carmody had flown Spitfire aircraft with 501 Squadron in 1942.
