88 Hong Kong Squadron (En Garde) Les Grandes Chappelles aerodrome, France, Fairey Battle I aircraft L 5467 RH-L lost during the Battle of France. The aircraft was badly damaged by enemy fire but managed to land safely at Mourmelon Airfield where they were based, 1940-05-26 Sergeant R W Butler RAF (Can.), was killed and Pilot Officer Colin Cecil Robert Anderson RAF 40350, the pilot was badly wounded, dying after landing the aircraft at Mourmelon Airfield. Air Gunner Sergeant E Wilks (RAF) was killed in the attack.. RH-L was abandoned at the airfield on 1940-05-16 when it was evacuated.
