Spitfire Ia aircraft X 4681 failed to return from a convoy patrol out of Ayrande, Montrose, Scotland and crashed into the sea after a mid-air collision with another Spitfire 1a X 4709 Sergeant WL Brown (RAFVR)(Can) missing, believed killed and has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Runnymede War Memorial.
