1918-09-24. Bennett was seriously wounded when his DH-9, was shot down on a bombing raid to Aulnoye railway junction, east of Cambrai. He died later that day as a POW. His air-gunner, 2/Lt Robert Hunter Armstrong, (British) was also made POW and was repatriated 1918-12-13.
