118 Cougar Squadron, Annette Island, Alaska. Kittyhawk I aircraft (RCAF)1089 was being flown in a formation of Kittyhawks by Pilot Officer GAG Baxter (RCAF) when his seat dinghy accidently inflated. He was unable to over come the pressure created and died when his aircraft crashed one mile east of Dall Head, British Columbia. His body was not recovered and he has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Ottawa Memorial.
