1918-08-25: posted to 20Sqn 1918-09-15: Campbell was missing in Bristol F2B, D-7939; last seen to force-land North-East of Epehy, apparently with engine trouble or AA fire damage, during a patrol. His air-gunner, 128313 Sergeant Thomas Andrew Stack (British) was also missing. Both were later confirmed as POWs. Campbell was repatriated 1918-12-13.

2nd-Lieutenant Archibald Bruce Descchenay Campbell was cremated.
