It later signaled that it had an engine failure and is believed to have come in the sea FS JW Brown (RCAF), Flight Sergeant RH McRae (RCAF), Sergeant HG Baden (RAFVR), Sergeant J.R. Irwin (RAFVR), Sergeant J Oliphant (RAFVR) and Lt RB Strang RA (Royal Artillery), on this sortie to make observations of enemy anti-aircraft fire missing, presumed killed. They have a known grave and are all commemorated on the Alamein War Memorial
