
Obituary Notice:
Florence Agnes King, 106, at Brantford, Ontario, passed away at Riverview Terrace on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Florence was born on October 14, 1916 in Carluke, Ontario, to her parents Ella Moffat and John Moffat. Florence lived a rich life of faith and service to others, beginning her nurses training in 1939. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. In the years to follow, Florence would marry, move to the United States, and start a family. Florence had 2 children, Brian Scott and Karen Delores Ann. Florence returned to Canada in 1979. As an avid artist, Florence was often seen trying her hand at new approaches and artistic styles to fully embrace her creative side. Her paintings, blankets, handmade cards, and needlepoint creations have won many awards along the years and are coveted keepsakes of loved ones in the US and Canada alike. Serving nearly 30 years as a nurse, Florence understood compassion, dedication and faith as the foundation of life. Florence was dedicated to volunteering for multiple health organizations including the Brantford General Hospital and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Her service and dedication to others and charitable giving has left a legacy that many have come to admire. She was preceded in death by her husband William Howard King, son Brian Scott King, sisters Bertha Egan, Reta Moffat, Evelyn Sharp and Helen Hamilton, and brothers Jack, Bob and Lloyd Moffat. Survived by her daughter Karen (Greg) Steinke, grandchildren Carolynne (Alex) Noffsinger, Michael (Stacy) Steinke and Jennifer Poole. Great-grandchildren Kayla, Jordyn, Mackenzie and Jacob Parker, Ben and Nicholas Steinke, and Cayden and Grace Poole. A celebration of Florence's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford. Reception to follow. Florence will be laid to rest with her son Brian at Carluke White Church Cemetery.
