It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. 180 Squadron (Suaviter In Mode Fortiter In Re). The crew of Mitchell aircraft FV 998 were making a medium level bombing attack on Bois Coguerell, France when the aircraft was hit by flak. One engine caught fire and the bombs exploded. Squadron Leader P.G.A. Ford D.F.C. (RAF), Pilot Officer G. Lister D.F.M. (RAF), and FS R.A. Newham (RAF) were also killed.
