20th Battalion attached to the RFC. *SL* 1917-08-14: Doran and his pilot, were both killed in action when their RE-8 aircraft was shot down on an artillery shoot which pilot Curtis had described in a letter to his parent, as 'dangerous'. Their aircraft was attacked by three enemy fighters, and shot down. Their bodies were recovered, and buried together in Belgium.
