"A" Able flying through the Eiffel Tower? (although this event likely happened, this photograph is likely fake.) It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. Pilot - W/O Bob Boorman RCAF Navigator F/S Bill Bryant RAF Flying through the Eiffel Tower."

1917-09-30: RN casualty list for September, 1917 lists Beattie as killed in a flying accident in Sopwith Triplane N-5466 with 1(N) Sqn in France. The wing broke off during a practice flight. He crashed 1 mile south of Bailleul. It was Beattie's second flight with the squadron, his first being a formation practice that morning.Prehisory: Initially served with Canadian Infantry; entered the RNAS as a Prob.FO on 14th March 1917; at Crystal Palace 14th March 1917 - 27th April 1917; at Redcar 28th April 1917 to 22nd June 1917; at Cranwell 23rd June 1917 to 2nd September 1917; at Dover 3rd September 1917 - to No 1 Squadron September 1917Cenotaph at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Perth County, Ontario, Canada Sec 4 Lot 167 (not in cemetery database)
