The Wellington crashed into the Burgerpark, in the Walle District of Bremen, Germany with the loss of four crew members
Pilot Officer Gerard McKee Beech (RCAF), Squadron Leader Harry Ledger (RAF), Pilot Officer John Eric Coleman (RAFVR), and Flight Sergeant Jack Robert Ludkin (RAF) were killed in action
Flight Sergeant David Alan Hunter (RAFVR) was the lone survivor from his crew and was taken as Prisoner of War
