Aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed at Leest Mechelen Antwerp Belgium.
Pilot FS Cavanagh attempted to crash-land the Halifax at Leest Belgium, but struck high-tension wires as he was about to touch down. The bomber crashed and exploded with the loss of the entire crew
