158 Squadron (Strength In Unity). Halifax aircraft LW 721 was shot down sixty-five miles east of Leipzig, Germany at Pasewin during a night attack against Berlin, Germany. Pilot Officer Van Slyke maintained control of the aircraft long enough to allow his crew to bail out he went down with the aircraft. Four crew members, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
