408 Goose Squadron (For Freedom). Halifax aircraft RG 472 was hit by flak after leaving the target during a daylight raid on Cologne, Germany. The burst of flak killed Pilot Officer Paxton and Pilot Officer J. Street was found dead in the aircraft which crashed and exploded near Bad Godesberg, Germany. Five Canadians, F/Os Sproule, Moran, Mousseau, FS Hunt, and Sergeant Dennis all bailed out to safety.
