83 Squadron (Strike To Defend), Pathfinder Force. Lancaster aircraft ED 907 was shot down over the target Cologne, Germany. Pilot Officer Murray maintained control of the aircraft long enough for his crew to bail out but he went down with the aircraft. Flying Officer J.G. MacKay was also killed and five RAF crew members were taken Prisoners of War. Pilot Officer Murray had been slightly injured on November 30, 1941 when Cessna Crane aircraft 7833 landed on top of Crane 7663 twenty-five feet in the air during a landing at 4 S.F.T.S., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
