7 Squadron (Per Diem Per Noctum). Stirling aircraft W 7466 was carrying incendiaries when it crashed near Neumunster, Holstein, Germany, presumed enemy action. FS C.W. Starret, Pilot Officer M.R.R. Green (RAAF), Sergeants E.G. Tapner (RAF), D.I. Dunn (RAF), and J.F. Grimmett (RAF) were also killed. One soldier attached to the RAF, 2nd Lt Griffith, missing believed killed. There were two 7 Sqdn. aircraft lost this same date. The following RAF personnel were all killed in the other aircraft; Sergeants V.A.L. Ellis, R.W. Page, L.D. Sollars, C.J. Watkin, P/Os D.R. Hart, R.P. Hayes, and J. Marr.
