550 Squadron (Per Ignem Vincinnus). Lancaster aircraft ME 581 went down near St Trond, Belgium during a night trip to Dusseldorf, Germany. Flying Officer B.B. Ashley, Pilot Officer N.W. Burdett, F/Os S.M. Clarke (RAF), D.W. Magan (RAF), Sergeants S.W. Courtenay (RAF), and J. Palfrey (RAF) were also killed. Flying Officer Pilot Milburn was buried at St Trond, exhumed, and reburied in the War Cemetery, Heverlee, Brabant, Belgium.
