Stirling III aircraft BK 722 HA-G was shot down by night fighter pilot Hauptmann Eckart-Wilhelm von Bonin of the 6/NJG 1, flying Bf 110 G-4 G9+BP from St Trond, Belgium while on an operation against targets in Krefeld, Germany. The Stirling crashed along Chijnsgoed Road, Sterksel, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands

Sergeant SH Burrows (RAFVR), Sergeant B Kermode (RAF) and Pilot Officer DR Rich (RAAF) were all killed in action

WO1JS McDonald (RCAF), FS F Fawcett (RAFVR), FS H Hill (RAF) and FS AJ Small (RAF) survived and were all taken as Prisoners of War

Warrant Officer Class 1 JS McDonald (RCAF) died from diphtheria 1945-03-19 while a PoW at Fallingbostel, Germany
