190 Squadron. Stirling aircraft LJ 882 lost during night operations while towing a glider and carrying paratroops. One Canadian, Flying Officer J.P. Vinet, was taken Prisoner of War and one Canadian, Flight Sergeant Bell, was an Evader. Pilot Officer F. Copland (RAF), Flight Sergeant H.L. Guy (RAF), Sergeant A.E. Swindell (RAF), and Flying Officer L.A.A. Kilgour (RAAF) were also killed. Addendum: The crew were on special operations over France when it crashed near the Swiss mountains. Flying Officer Vinet was taken Prisoner of War, F/S. Bell was an Evader and was returned to his Squadron. Detail provided by Bob Middleton of Killarney, Manitoba.
