Took off from Wellesbourne Mountford at 10:24 in Wellington Mk X on a cross-country training operation.

Got off course by 25 miles early in the flight. Aircraft was heard flying over Buttermere but then failed to clear high ridge between Red Pike and High Seat. It struck the rock face only feet below the summit of Red Pike at 13:35 killing all on board instantly.
