77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). The squadron was attached to Coastal Command at Chivenor when Whitley Mk V Z9477 went down in the Bay of Biscay during an anti-submarine patrol. There were only six in the crew, the five RAF members who were also killed were Pilot Officer E A Smith, Sergeants M A E Ennion, A H Cameron, R G Home, and R G McKenzie.
