102 Ceylon Squadron (Tentate Et Perficite) RAF Pocklington, Halifax II aircraft W 1055 DY-F went down near Flensburg, Germany

There were two 102 Sqn aircraft lost in the same area on this date. On Halifax II W1055: FS WD Reynolds (RCAF), Pilot Officer RCE Bassom (RAFVR), Sergeant J Bennett (RAF), Sergeant S Cooper (RAFVR), Sergeant RJ Gould (RNZAF), Sergeant AG Sherrard-Smith (RAFVR) and Sergeant C Stainton (RAFVR)

FS Reynolds and most of his crew were initially buried near the crash site near Flensburg, Germany. They were later exhumed and are buried in the Keil War Cemetery. Sergeant Bennet and Sergeant Cooper were missing, presumed killed and have no known grave. They are commemorated on the Runnymede War Memorial
