1918-01-03: to be 2nd-Lieutenant, RFC. 1918-04-16: embarked for France by air with squadron. 1918-06-08: Lewis was OK in Brisfit, C-882; longeron and rib shot through after heavy shelling by AA while on escort duty to Ostend. His pilot, Lt Robert James Cullen, (British) was also OK. 1918-09-20: Lewis was OK in Brisfit, D-8064; force-landed in shell hole near Merville with engine trouble on OP to Armentieres. His pilot Capt Kenneth Roy Simpson, (British) was also OK.
