1917-04-13: posted 18Sqn, France. 1917-04-29: Dinsmore was OK in FE2b, A-5483; when he was shot down during combat with a hostile aircraft while on escort duty to a photography mission. His air-gunner, Lt George Beaumont Bate, (British) was also OK. 1917-07-28: Dinsmore was OK in DH-4, A-7478; when he force-landed at Beaumetz after the engine cut out while planing down through cloud on an altitude test. His air-gunner, 2Lt Eric John Detmold, (British) was also OK.
