Rowat was born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1908 (age 16).
1917-09-16: Rowat was killed in a flying accident when his aircraft: "Dived to the ground due to insufficient bank or speed on landing, from practice artillery observation". Rowat, and his observer 2AM JH Muscutt, 88146, (British, no forenames) were both killed in the subsequent crash.
