McNeaney was living in Hamilton, Ontario before he enlisted in the RFC in 1917-05-05. he was commissioned a Captain and joined 79 Squadron RAF. He had claimed 5 confirmed victories by the end of the war. He was awarded the DFC for actions on September 28. After war's end he was posted to Germany as part of the forces of occupation. He contracted influenza and was brought back to England. He died on 1 March 1919.
