1918-05-01: MacDonald was flying from South Carleton aerodrome near Lincoln to 46TDS at Bramham aerodrome, near Tadcaster, Yorkshire. As he approached Tadcaster he became lost in thick fog, and before he could land, crashed into a tree near Towton, Yorkshire at about 3:20pm. He was pulled from the wreckage, but had died in the initial crash.
