61 Squadron (Per Puram Tunantes). Lancaster aircraft LM 476 was shot down at Lugde, Westphalia, Germany during a night trip to Brunswick, Germany. Pilot Officer P.H.P. Hollander (RAF), F/S(s) H. Aspinall (RAF), R.V.G. George (RAF), Sergeant B. Kenrick D.F.M. (RAF), and Flying Officer J.H. Pullman (RAF) were also killed. Flight Lieutenant Goodyear had been slightly injured on January 1, 1943 when his Conversion Unit Manchester aircraft encountered a severe snowstorm with icing conditions and crashed at Highfield Farm, Metheringham, Lincolnshire, England.
